December 30th, 2015:

Wow, it’s been 1 ½ months since our last update….my, how time flies! Pamuk has been with us a couple of months now and we have all learned a lot. We have learned that we have to always be on our toes with a puppy in the house and she is learning there are rules when living with us! Her curiosity has gotten her in a little puppy trouble recently, so for her protection we crate her when we go to work. She does not seem to mind at all, and is very happy to see us when we get home. Occasionally she resource guards, but we are working with her and we have seen great improvement! We have an occasional setback but it serves as a reminder to us that she is still a puppy and needs our leadership! Pamuk is still itching so we have switched her to a different dog food to see if this helps. If things do not improve, we may do some allergy testing after the holidays. Speaking of the holidays, she got lots of doggie gifts, had great fun unwrapping them, and never bothered the tree once! She gets to go on a couple of walks a day and small training sessions throughout the day. She is amazingly smart and learns quickly so we use that to teach her what she needs to know to be a great family pet. When she is ready for adoption, her forever home will be blessed with a very sweet little girl with lots of love to give, and in return they will need to continue with training and be savvy with raising an adolescent pup who needs leadership and consistency. Stay tuned for future updates!

November 10th, 2015:

Pamuk is continuing to grow and learn new things! She was a little itchy last week, so we had her checked out and her skin was red and warm so our vet put her on some medicine and after just a few days she was itch free…yeh! She is experiencing lots of new stuff and was really intrigued by the ceiling fan once she saw it moving….she barked at it for a while, but now she knows that it is nothing to be concerned with. She is learning some obedience and catches on very quickly especially when there is a treat involved! She is a joy to walk, loves being outside with us, and will chase a tennis ball as long as someone will throw it. Since she has gotten more comfortable in our home, she has checked out the kitchen counter….she didn’t find anything good though, so we are working on changing that habit. She is loving her crate and naps in there when I am at the computer working and sleeps in there at night with no more whining or crying. She recently decided that her dog bed was a chew toy, so we have stored the bed away for now and will introduce it again once she settles in just a little bit more. She stays in the kitchen/dining room area when we are gone so she can’t get in any “puppy” trouble and she does great! She understands that even though we leave, we always come back and she always greets us at the door with a wagging tail! Her personality comes out more and more every day as she settles in and learns that she is safe and loved. She is a joy to have around and has lots of love to give!

October 26th, 2015:

Pamuk is learning to stay around the yard with the other dogs and loves to wrestle with the rope leash and her tug toys. We introduced the crate and while she does not go into the crate without a treat, she does lie down immediately and after a short but mournful whine, she will quietly watch what is going on in the house. At night she does the same routine and will sleep through the night. Yesterday she barked at the riding lawnmower after it stopped and at me with the umbrella. A few short barks and then she is fine with new things. Her ear and skin infection are clearing up nicely. Pamuk loves to ride in the car, and while she hasn’t figured out how to jump into the back of an SUV, she settles quietly in the back once she climbs over the seats to get there. Treats are a favorite of hers but if you hold them in one hand and give them to her with the other she is confused as to which hand to watch. Every day is an adventure and a learning experience with this charmer!

October 23rd, 2015:

Pamuk is a young pup who is used to the outside and learning how to adjust to daily living. She is a quick learner and seems to enjoy all the playful puppy things including running, walking, sniffing and sleeping. She loves other dogs and companionship and is quickly becoming a velcro dog when in the house. This is a people dog who wants to be loved. She treats things that are new to her curiously and sometimes with a bark. The fake deer used for archery was something she just could not understand and the garage door going up caught her attention. Each day brings new surprises and growth with this young lady. She is going to make a family a great companion as she is quickly acclimating to indoor living. Right now she is being treated for an ear and skin infection.
