Hi, this is Shaggy letting GRRoW know how I love living with my forever family! The humans are adjusting well to me and they report that I've done a great job of fitting in to their home. Mom and Dad are around pretty much all the time. I supervise when he is shoveling snow and working in the kitchen. He even gave the other Golden Retriever, Lacy, and I a spa day last Saturday. He checked our ears, and I let him clean my teeth, gums and tongue everyday. This is something new but Lacy says there's always a treat after so go along with it. Mom enjoys having a dog that will snuggle up on her lap. I'm a bigger dog but Mom says I'm light enough. I have to make sure she knows I'm jumping up so she can set her coffee aside. My forever family has two kids who are fun to play with. Their rooms are sources of wonderful things to carry around. They call me a sock goblin and they're trying to train me to put the socks I find into the laundry basket, but it's easier to drop them in the living room when I'm tired of carrying them around. I have trained the family that a single bark means I'm ready to come in. I won over the affection of the Lacy, my new golden sister, so we can share the love seat for sleeping (a love seat is made for two, right?)

My forever family and I want to thank GRRoW and my foster home so that I was well prepared for my move to my forever home. Hopefully, someday I can road trip to a GRRoW event and meet other dogs who were lucky enough to have their lives changed through GRRoW,

Shaggy here! Just wanted to let you know that my forever family found me and we are living happily ever after! I get to run and play in the back yard with my canine sister, although she is a bit younger than me, I can still keep up with her. I get lots of love and attention and I get to give them all the golden love I have to give and that's a lot! Thank you GRRoW volunteers for taking such good care of me over the past few months. It feels so good to be with my forever family.

March 18, 2018:

Hi everyone! It’s time I give you a little update on how I am doing. I have improved a lot on my leash walking which is great because it’s getting nicer out and I love going for walks! I also really like playing with my stuffed animal and chewing on my bone and that helps keep my pearly whites looking great! I have been learning to wait patiently at the door before going outside, and I get lots of praise, so I must be doing a really good job! I must say I may be getting a bit spoiled with tummy rubs and I even get to snuggle on the bed with my foster mom sometimes. What doggie wouldn’t be in heaven. I’ve met new people and have done great, sometimes I get a little excited and need to slow down but my foster mom says I listen well and she is very proud of me. As you will see in one of my photos, a friend gave me a bandana to wear; never had one of those before so the first time she put it on me I ran in circles trying to get it off. I guess I must have looked funny doing this because everyone had a good laugh! We are on the hunt for the perfect home for me, all I ask is that the children be a bit older because I have not had a lot of experience with kids, oh and I don’t care for cats much, other than that I am would love to fill your home with a little golden love!

February 18, 2018:

Hi everyone, Shaggy again! I thought it would be nice to give you all a little update about myself. My foster family has been so great to me, I get to play with my canine sister out in the back yard and then when I’m tuckered out I just chill in the house. I have been getting more walks in lately, now that the weather is better. This helps me improve on my leash walking skills and my foster mom is very proud of me because I am doing so great! I am also learning that I get pats on the head and tummy rubs from people that come to visit if I am calm and polite, and I love visitors! I am working hard on my basic commands and doing quite well if I do say so myself. Now that I have a “thumbs up” from the vet and I am learning my basic commands, it’s time to find me my forever home, yeh! I surely don’t require much, I am super sweet, mellow, and all around good guy. I am always eager to learn and treats help me stay focused when I get distracted. My mom tells me I have a “happy heart” and she loves watching me romp around in the back yard. Although I am not 100% golden, I do have that golden personality that will melt your heart, all you have to do is give me a chance!

Shaggy here! I guess time has gone by so fast, we forgot to update everyone on how I am doing! Well, I am happy to say that I’m not itching anymore and haven’t been for a while now. After seeing the vet and getting some medicine to calm the itches, and a nice bath, I am as good as new! My foster mom says my skin is a little dry, but I don’t notice it at all. I had a little catching up to do with vet care, but now I am all update on my shots and got a thumbs up from the vet, yeh! I am not fond of cats, but I enjoy playing in the backyard with my American Bulldog foster sister. We like to chase tennis balls, but sometimes I forget to bring them back, something I am working on! Like any golden, I enjoy snuggling and of course treats and toys. Sometimes I so excited when someone new comes to visit that I jump up to say “hello”, but I am learning, and I’m told I’ve gotten much better at greeting people. I know my basic commands and my foster mom tests me to make sure I have not forgotten them. In case you haven’t noticed, I am not the color of a typical golden, my hair is darker but wavy and soft just like a golden. I also have the great easy going golden personality that no one can resist! I know my forever home is out there someone where, I just need a chance to show you what a sweet boy I am!

December 6, 2017:

Shaggy got to our foster home on Saturday afternoon. He is a beautiful 6 year old boy who has been through a lot lately, he gets along with other dogs, but not cats, and was living in a home with children. He has some skin issues believed to be from flea bites and is currently on medication and is not showing signs of irritation since he has been here. He knows sit, comes when called, and will shake hands. He enjoys running and playing with his foster doggie sister, pulls a bit on the leash and has begun jumping up when people come over. We have a vet appointment scheduled for 12/15 to followup and get checked over. There will be more to come about this handsome guy!
