Garbanzo (Gabby) has been adopted!
August 12th, 2016:
We’ve had Garbanzo for one month now. He came in as a stray. He is not a purebred but he certainly looks like a golden and has the characteristics of one. He was neutered about 2 weeks ago. He has calmed down considerably.
Garbanzo loves squeaky toys and he loves to catch tennis balls. One of his favorite indoor activities is to shred newspaper. One of our goldens taught him that. He loves his walks and gets excited when he sees me get his leash. And now Garbanzo and our two goldens finally interact. They wrestle!
Garbanzo doesn’t beg for food while we eat any more. He lies quietly under the table. He has separation anxiety; we’re working on that. He has a prey drive so I hold tight to the leash on our walks and I’m always looking for rabbits and squirrels.

We have had Garbanzo for one week now. He came from a shelter as a stray so he cannot go to a home with children under 10. We think he is between two and three years of age. He is a sweetheart; truly a Velcro dog. He looks like he was well taken care of; he’s clean, but very thin. Garbanzo is full of energy. We go for two walks every day, about one mile each. He does pull on the leash in order to smell as much as possible. We spend a lot of time in the back yard throwing tennis balls for him. He’ll bring the ball back to you so you can throw it again, and again, and again. He’s very good at catching the ball in the air, not just running after it. He’ll let you know when he is done. He just doesn’t bring the ball back to you. Garbanzo is a terrific counter surfer. We’ve had to move everything off of the kitchen counters. And he begs for food while we are eating. He had a few accidents in the house at first but is doing okay now. We do not crate him but one of us is always at home with him. He sleeps on the living room floor at night. He doesn’t interact much with our two dogs. They sniff each other but that’s about it. Garbanzo has his first visit to the vet tomorrow. We’ll make an appointment to have him neutered.

Garbanzo is new in foster care. More information will follow.
Garbanzo is currently available for adoption through our match process only. If you are interested in adopting one of our GRRoW dogs and would like to be added to our list of waiting families, please fill out an application found in the adoption section.
