Adoption Date: September 19, 2019
Bella has been adopted.
July 14, 2019:
Bella had a teeth cleaning and oral surgery with (4) teeth pulled. The vet is "watching" two additional teeth that may also need to be pulled. Bella is wonderfully tolerating me brushing her teeth twice a day to keep the gingivitis at bay. She had also experienced diarrhea for a few weeks after coming into foster care even after trying a bland diet. She was then prescribed a prescription digestive care soft food. After about one week I was able to introduce Bella to Fromm's Reduced Activity and Senior hard food which she has successfully fully transitioned to now with no problems.
Bella has another vet visit next week to finish getting her vaccines and to follow up on her oral surgery.
Bella goes on daily walks and can tolerate going a bit farther each week. She has become comfortable hanging out in the back yard with me and waits for petting from the neighbor kids. Bella is super sweet and loves to be pet. She has a favorite soft toy which she will now start to play with on her own. She will also chase her own tail and skip around the back yard to meet the neighbor dogs through the fence.
Bella also did great when I was able to give her a bath at a local dog wash. She was a true champ! She also does well when I brush her hair. She is a beautiful golden with a typical sweet golden disposition.
June 16, 2019:
Bella is still adjusting well. She goes for two short walks a day and is currently on a bland diet and some antibiotics to help with some intestinal and dental issues. She did a little fast skip in the yard today for the first time as if she wanted to play. Bella will have her teeth cleaned on Wednesday. We are working on having her loose some weight, as well, as she weighs in over 90 pounds. Bella has become a favorite with the neighborhood kids. She is a very sweet dog
May 30, 2019:
Bella has arrived at her foster home. She is a very sweet girl and is adjusting well. She may have pain in her mouth and some stiffness in her hips. She will get to the vet to check out her overall health. She is settling in and getting to know the resident cat.
