Top o’ the mornin’! Me namus is Shamus. I’m a fun-loving 3-1/2 year old male, Golden mix. I’ve got the body and great big heart of a Golden with the gorgeous eyes an’ wee legs of a Basset. Cute and handsome, I can’t help it.
I’m just a little shy at first but warm up in a bit. Knowing I was on my way to the start of a new life I jumped in the car and was a good passenger all the way home. I loved being pet and reassured during the drive, so it helped me accept all the changes.
I also caught a glimpse of my new foster sisters, and they told me everything was going to be fine. I settled in to my own room the first night, and later the next day I met them and we all said howdy like dogs do. They’re great! It’s kind of like the dog park, where I loved to go, but nice and quiet-like. I want to play with the nine-year old, so hopefully that will happen soon. She and the two older ones are showing me the ropes, like how to get treats before bedtime or when the peoples leave for work. I’m a quick study!
Since we’re all laid back and get along very well with each other, they don’t mind me sleeping or eating with them. Yes, because of my shyness it took two meals for me to want to eat, but again, everything was so new. Now, every day I embrace it! What else will be new? What’s this snow on the ground in April? I never knew just how many toys I could play with at one time until I tried (I settled on Lamb Chop and the goofy duck). Who thought dried sweet potato treats could be so crunchy? This is AWESOME!
We’re heading to the vet in a couple of weeks. Hopefully I’ll get a clean bill of health and will be available for adoption soon. Though I am doing great with my foster sisters and lived with another dog, I’m not sure if I need to be placed in a home with another dog. If the home has one, it would need to be a dog who is older or low key like I am at least that’s what I think now. Maybe when my foster sister plays with me or I try even more new stuff, who knows? Life of the party? Could very well be! Hopefully any sibling dog won’t be the jealous type, because I love loving and being loved. Don’t you just love that?
