Sage, and his bonded Golden pal Buddy, came into GRRoW in September, 2015. They had spent the summer in a kennel, following the death of their owner; Sage was eight at the time and had some health challenges. His forever foster parents tell the story: Several months after the passing of our beloved golden Zoie, who we obtained from GRRoW, we received an email asking if we would foster two golden retrievers Buddy and Sage. The condition upon their surrender was that they be kept together. Sage came to our home with his brother Buddy (not canine related). When they arrived at our home they fit in with our other golden and a cocker mix. Their previous owner had passed on vacation and they spent several months at a kennel until the estate was settled. Fortunately, a family member contacted GRRoW. Both dogs were hungry for love when they arrived. Sage had multiple medical issues (severe allergies, seizures, and a torn ACL) and his adoptability was low. Buddy’s adoptability was good as no medical issues. As time went on we examined our options. It was clear that we loved them and they loved us. We adopted Buddy and Sage as a permanent foster. Both are thriving. GRRoW had Sage’s ACL repaired. Sage and his companions love car rides as well as running around our 214 acre farm. His seizure medication has been reduced significantly with a loving home and his allergies are simply manageable. We would like to encourage others to consider permanent fosters. They are not castoffs and want love and attention and pay it back. No matter the circumstances, GRRoW will always help you along the way. Please consider a permanent foster in your life.
