Vivian is approximately 18 months old and came to GRRoW via Puerto Rico on 8/1/16 . So much has happened in the short time she's been with me I can't believe how much she has changed. As I looked into the dark crate that had just been unloaded at O'Hare Airport I saw the most beautiful little face look back at me. She popped out of her crate with a Golden's smile on her face melting my heart from the very beginning. I have been calling her Vivá because Vivian seems far too mature and doesn't match the endless energy I have found her to have. While being a very happy dog she will shrink down in a passive position when she thinks she is being scolded or you say her name too firm or loud. We have found she is very happy and seems to have no fear of people. She is very mouthy so we will continue to work on that, learning simple commands, going for walks without pulling and walking a straight line. Viva is on the smaller side, weighing just under 50 pounds. She loves to run around and and play with one of her three fur siblings till she just can't play anymore. I usually have to break off the running and wrestling so she doesn't overdo it in the hot and humid weather. Food is very important to her after living on the streets. We have been using a specially designed bowl to slow her down to prevent eating too fast. Initially Vivá had problems digesting her dog food, we backed off and went to chicken and rice until yesterday, now she is doing very well on the dry dog food. Vivá is a very special dog. When she is tired you will know because she can be either standing, sitting or lying down and her eyes slowly begin to close. Even while standing she will fall asleep! I don't know if she had to stay alert a lot because of life on the streets but she fights putting her head down to go asleep. Vivian can go from high speed down to off in a heartbeat. When she gets tired she will look around for you and either want to sit on on your lap or next to you on the bed. She loves to snuggle. This dog is amazing and so much unconditional love to offer but will need a home with no children under 10, child proofed and ready to teach her some life skills not learned on the street. Viva is a people pup and will fill your life with so much excitement and love.
