Jeleika has been joined by another foster dog, Biscuit. At first, Jeleika was a little unhappy about sharing a house with this very stressed out dog. But, she quickly came around and now loves sharing her life with Biscuit. Jeleika is very smart. She learns very quickly and loves to help Biscuit learn commands. For every training session, she is right there, knowing that she will get treats, too, for things she learned long ago. On the positive side, this does help Biscuit. She will look over at Jeleika, as if to ask, "what am I supposed to do?" There is a little competitiveness between them that one sees with siblings. But, there is a lot of love and collaboration. They do everything together. When Biscuit gets her bath, Jeleika is right next to the tub. I once put her in the tub with Biscuit, thinking she wanted what Biscuit was getting. No, Jeleika made it very clear that she did not want to be in the tub, thank you very much! She just wanted to be nearby. And, they get into mischief together, too. They make me laugh with their antics and feel warm with their affection for each other. Jeleika has been having accidents in the house, so we are back to "potty training 101". She is rewarded for going in the right places and when we can't keep an eye on her, she is tethered to a human so she cannot sneak off. Since she goes on soft surfaces, we think she may have been trained to go potty on pee pads. She is doing better and we will keep working on it.
