June 18, 2019:

Cody here, just wanted everyone to know my foster mom and dad have been spending a lot of time with me and I am learning so much. We have been working on controlling my insatiable appetite, I love to pickup and eat everything I find on our walks (sticks, leaves, grass and yes dead squirrels). I am learning new commands such as “leave it” when I try to pickup what I consider a high value item. If I obey in return I get a tasty dog treat from them and I love my treats. Our walks are so enjoyable now and I am exploring without trying to eat everything. I am also working on my manners when meeting new people. I get so excited I like to bark and jump, foster mom and dad are teaching me to sit and wait for people to pet me and give me all the love and attention I deserve plus I get a treat if I listen. This is very hard for me as I am a typical Golden! Time for me to go out and play!!

April 16, 2019:

Well I'm doing my best to be as good a boy as I can as my foster and I get to know each other this first week. I've got a very good sit stay going and I also learned a really good " shake" will get numerous " good boy" and treats! I wait for the "take" before breakfast and dinner so my eating manners are top notch. The "play dead" command is also easy to do because I am pounding down a five miler every day! I have to work on my leash walking. I still have that high one year old energy but holy smokes that gentle leader is a game changer for me and my foster. I also have this thing about needing something in my mouth when walking and my foster is not sure if I am just holding or chewing and I'm not too crazy about giving it up, but I'm working on it. I go to the doctor this week for my one year physical...the same week I celebrate my one year birthday! Hopefully no surprises there and she tells me I'm her best patient ever!!

Cody came into GRRoW with such excitement. He loves to chase leaves, finds everything in new places as a learning experience and has adjusted well during the transition to his foster home. He loves to ride in cars and stay outside. He loves his walks, the faster the better but is not too keen at coming into the house. Cody responds well to treats and will give you the best sit and stay for something that tastes good. Right now, piles of snow are fun to explore and when I am called, I respond with excitement.
