May 22, 2015 Update:

Lambeau has fully recovered from his bilateral knee surgeries and is up and running at full force.  After sixteen weeks of caring for this fellow, I just could not part with him. I decided this was to be his forever home so he  is now a “foster failure.....adoption success”.  I hope he will continue to be an ambassador for the mission of GRRoW.  Thank you to the surgeon and canine physical therapist who provided excellent compassionate care.  Look for more updates in the Happy Dog section!

February 17, 2015 Update:

Lambeau is (finally) on the loose!!!!

Beau is now twelve weeks out from his bilateral knee surgery.  We saw the surgeon and he has healed like a champ.  He has full range of motion of both knees and solid, stable joints.   He has been cleared to be off leash to which I say Amen every morning.  He has been participating in physical therapy to strengthen his hind end and improve his core muscles for better agility.  He is quite funny in the water therapy session.  He looks with envy at the open pool and I hope he get a chance at that before we are finished.

He is enjoying his freedom to go into the fenced yard to explore, play with his sticks and romp with his tennis balls.  We hope to find his forever family in the next six weeks or so.

February 1, 2015 Update:

Lambeau is now ten weeks out from his bilateral TPLO surgery and is recovering like a Champ.  He is still restricted to on-leash activity only (except while in the house).  I know we are both looking forward to his final clearance to be able to run outside and play with other dogs.  We go back to see the surgeon on Feb 11, 2015 and if all goes as planned he will be able to romp in the snow.  He has been participating at the Boston Store Coupon day fundraiser sales for GRRoW and has had many admirers for sure.

This week we will begin twice weekly Canine physical therapy sessions including water therapy to strengthen his hind end muscles.  We also are going to set him up here with a short “On” and “off” ramp to do the same as well as walking on an inflatable air mattress to help him work with uneven terrain.  He is a gentle guy with a big smile!

December 27, 2014 Update:

Lambeau, mostly known as “Beau” is now almost five weeks out from his bilateral knee surgeries and he is doing just great.  He really wants to start chasing squirrels again.  He is definitely a perfect family dog.  He is calm and gentle and loves to meet new people.  He has met new dogs on our walks and is very appropriate in his behavior.  We have not encountered any cats so that is a bit of an unknown.  He passed his general physical with flying colors.  We go back to see the Surgeon in one week at which time he will have xrays repeated to be sure everything is healing well.  If so we should be able to liberalize his activity somewhat for at least another six weeks before he should be fully healed.  He is a real gem!!!!!

December 8, 2014 Update:

Lambeau arrived at his new foster home on November 22, 2014 with the vitality of a typical three year old. He had surgery two days later to repair a completely torn right cranial cruciate ligament (CCL) and a seventy percent torn left CCL. These are the human equivalents of the ACL of our knee. His surgery went well, and he is now recovering right on pace. His special harness helps keep him safe as we navigate the slippery conditions. We are working on gentle range of motion of both of his knees which he is quite tolerant of. His activity is going to be significantly curtailed for the next 8-12 weeks, but after that we expect him to be good as new. He is very well mannered and well trained and loves to be brushed and petted. He is very gentle and a real sweetheart. We will be going in for his general check up later this week which I suspect he will pass with flying colors. Stay tuned for more updates. You have to love this guy!!!!!! Go Packers!!!!

December 1, 2014 Update:

Lambeau arrived at his foster home on Nov. 21. Just a few days later he had surgery to repair significant tears to ligaments in both of his knees. He's been recovering beautifully. Stay tuned for an update from his foster home.
