Thinking about surrendering your dog?
Surrendering your dog is a difficult decision to make. There are many factors to take into consideration, and you ultimately have to decide what is best for your family and your dog. Rest assured that GRRoW takes the extra steps necessary to ensure that the transition for you and your dog is a successful one.
What will happen to my dog once I surrender him/her?
When you call or email to surrender your golden, you will be asked to provide basic information about your dog. This includes age, health history, likes, dislikes, fears, etc. This part of the process is important to the success of your dog in GRRoW. We will use the information about your dog in order to work with the foster home to place the dog with the perfect home. The dog will reside in foster care for a minimum of 14 days. During this time, the dog will have a thorough veterinary examination, receive necessary medical care, and will be spayed or neutered (if applicable). They'll also spend a lot of time with the foster home, getting to know each other's personalities. The foster home will use all of the information gathered on the dog in order to select the home that is the best match for the dog and the adopter. All of our approved applications have had a home visit and background check. They have also committed to keep the dog inside and welcome them as a member of their pack. GRRoW does not have a shelter or boarding facility of any kind. All of our foster dogs stay in approved foster homes throughout their journey.

Complete this Pre-Surrender Form.

Call our Surrender Hotline 1-888-655-4753 and leave a message, or e-mail us at surrender@grrow.org. One of our dedicated intake volunteers will contact you within 24 hours.
As stated above, you will be asked to provide basic information about your dog. Please be as complete as possible when giving information about your dog. The more we know, the better we are able to match him/her with a foster home and forever home.
Additional Information about Surrendering
GRRoW cannot accept any dog with a bite history. At the time of surrender, you will be asked to sign two forms: The Irrevocable Surrender of Dog Form and the Veterinary Records Release Form. We request a tax deductible donation of $25 to help defray the cost of veterinary care.
